Alyse Merry, Piano Instructor
Alyse Merry is a graduate of the Temple University Boyer College of Music with a dual Masters of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance. At the Boyer College of Music, Alyse studied piano with Dr. Charles Abramovic and studied piano pedagogy with professor Maria del Pico Taylor, and was professionally advised by Dr. Joann Kirchner. Prior to attending the Boyer College of Music, Alyse earned a Bachelors Degree in Music from the Duquesne University Mary Pappert School of Music where she studied piano with professor Kenneth Burky.
In addition to Alyse’s formal training as a classical pianist, she has performed as a pianist at Howl at the Moon (Philadelphia & Louisville), playing and singing popular standards from today and back. Performing popular music on a live stage has allowed her to create music in new ways and teach performance skills, stage presence, and popular music to her students. She firmly believes with a foundation of classical music, you can learn any genre of music.
Alyse has been teaching since 2015 including serving as a teaching assistant and teaching private piano lessons to undergraduates at the Boyer College of Music, assisting in group piano classes, and monitoring piano labs. This experience allowed her to grow and develop as a better teacher and performer. Through her travels she had the privilege of accompanying and teaching for Kentucky Country Day School in Louisville, Kentucky, before returning to the to the Philadelphia area to teach and perform.
