Chloe Chuyue Zhang, Piano Instructor
Chloe Chuyue Zhang is a graduate of the Juilliard School where she earned her Masters degree in piano performance studying with Jerome Lowenthal. Prior to attending Juilliard, Chloe received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music. Chloe is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Piano Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music, where she served as a teaching assistant of Natalya Antonova in 2020 and 2021.
Born in Shenzhen, China, Chloe was the first prize winner of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition in 2021. Chloe has recently been featured on PBS’ Classical Pianists of the Future series that was broadcast nationally by the WSKG channel. She has also been featured as a soloist alongside several orchestras including the Chautauqua Music Festival Student Orchestra, Shreveport Symphony Orchestra and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra.
Recent performances include a concert playing Jeff Beal’s Battlefield with the Eastman Philharmonic as a soloist under the baton of Leonard Slatkin, and a harpsichord debut playing Poulenc’s Suite Francaise with the Eastman Wind Ensemble. Chloe is intimately and regularly involved in contemporary music and composition. She premiered the “Piano and Horn sonata” by Zhongrong Luo in the New York Focus music festival at Peter J Sharp Theater, as well as her own composition “Desert” for solo piano. She has also performed recitals nationally in San Francisco, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maine, and New York, along with international performances in Spain, Croatia and China.
Chloe has been lauded with numerous competition prizes and honors, including First Prizes at the 5th European Piano Teacher Association Competition, the Haiziman Asia Piano Competition, the Xinghai Cup Piano Competition, as well as top prizes at the Wideman International Piano Competition, the North International Music Competition, the TOYAMA Asia Piano Competition, Chautauqua Annual Piano Competition and the Grieg Asia Competition.
Chloe has been teaching piano privately for over ten years. From 2017-2018, she taught the secondary piano classes at the Juilliard School.
Aside from playing piano, Chloe loves composing music. She also loves her cats Chaz and Rabbit very much.
