Winter 2022 Theatre Technique Workshops at PPAC

Grades 3-6: Musical Theater Fundamentals – Mondays 5:45 – 7:00 PM, Jan. 31 – Feb. 21

  • Improving and connecting skills needed to be in a show! This class will take dance, acting and singing skills into a fun combination designed to help each child improve their ability to coordinate doing them at the same time.
  • Gross Motor Skills combined with vocal application
  • Stage Directions influenced by character choices
  • Movement exercises that grow left/right brain coordination
  • Storytelling through physical application
  • Basic rounds as groundwork for harmonies

Grades 5-9: Musical Theater Fundamentals – Tuesdays 5:45 – 7:00 PM, Feb. 1 – Feb. 22

  • Taking the three skill sets needed for exceptional stage work, this class will build the student’s skills in dance, acting and singing as they cross train into a better product onstage.
  • Beginning dance technique combined with vocal application
  • Improvisation influenced by character choices
  • Movement exercises that grow left/right brain coordination
  • Storytelling through physical application
  • Block harmonies and timing

Grades 8-12: Musical Theater Technique – Beginning/Intermediate – Thursdays 6:15 PM – 7:30 PM, Feb. 3 – Feb. 24

  • Developing the combined skills of dance, drama and vocals into a more cohesive unit. Understand the technique behind dance movement, acting choices and vocal application so that your songs have stronger acting choices, your dancing displays confidence in storytelling and your acting supports the story being told.
  • Understanding the “why” behind dance technique
  • Character development
  • Movement exercises that grow left/right brain coordination
  • Grow musical theater repertoire
  • Audition skills
